Our company got struck off — can we bring it back?
The short answer
A struck-off company can be brought back, but the route depends on how it was removed. Under Section 252, the company, a member, or a creditor can file a paper restoration petition with the NCLT — up to 20 years from the strike-off publication. Once the Tribunal orders restoration, file INC-28 with that order within 30 days; MCA V3 treats it as the Section 252 filing and status restores automatically. Expect to clear all pending filings and costs before the company is fully operational again.

Statutory formats that never touch the MCA portal — but an ROC inspection or due diligence will ask for every one of them.

- 4Clear all pending MCA filings, penalties, and outstanding costs
- 5Resume normal operations once ROC status is restored

Questions founders actually ask
How long do we have to file for restoration after strike-off?
A restoration petition under Section 252 can be filed with the NCLT up to 20 years from the publication of the strike-off. After the Tribunal orders restoration, INC-28 must be filed within 30 days of the order becoming effective.
Does filing INC-28 alone restore the company?
INC-28 is filed after an NCLT or Central Government order under Sections 230–232. When filed with a Section 252 restoration order, MCA V3 restores company status automatically through the Section 252 placeholder in INC-28.
What happens to our pending compliance once we are restored?
Restoration revives the company's legal status, but all pending filings and associated costs must still be completed. The company cannot operate cleanly until those backlogs are cleared.
